July 29, 2008 --- Tragedy comes to Jackson County with crash in Louisiana that takes the lives of three Vancleave residents -- National Guard member Phillip VanAlstine, his wife Shyla, a 14-year English teacher, and their oldest daughter, 7-year-old Haylie.

Celebrate Recovery, a 12-step Bible-based and worldwide group open to adults who have hurts, hangups, habits and addictions -- 6:15 p.m. every Thursday at Cedar Lake Christian Assembly, 11555 Cedar Lake Road in Biloxi, with free supper and meeting. Compassionate Friends of Leakesville, 7 p.m. first Tuesday each month at Faith Presbyterian Church, 1300 Mississippi St., Leakesville, MS 39451. Anyone who has lost a child, grandchild or sibling from the surrounding counties is welcome to come to the meetings. We are a bereaved parents self-help support group. GriefShare, a 13-week recovery support group for those who have experienced the death of a loved one, meets at 6 p.m. each Thursday in the fellowship hall of First United Methodist Church in Pascagoula. The church is located at 2710 Pascagoula St. Contact 762-5222.
Mississippi Gulf Coast Chapter of Compassionate Friends, 6:30 to 8 p.m. first Tuesday each month, meeting room at St. Martin Public Library, 15004 Lemoyne Blvd., Biloxi.
