New Year's Drowning Claims Toddler

LUCEDALE -- The mother and grandmother of a 10-month-old baby who died New Year's Day had attempted to revive the toddler using CPR, or cardiopulmonary resuscitation, before medical personnel arrived on the scene, according to local news reports.

Eden Dunn drowned early that Friday evening after climbing into a bathtub containing water used to bathe her 3-year-old sister, according to The Mississippi Press. The nearly year-old girl had apparently gotten out of her crib while her mother was cooking.

Kimberly Daily and her children live in the Howell community off Mississippi 612.

George County Sheriff Garry Welford provided information about the drowning, which he said was an accident. Eden Dunn was pronounced dead at University of South Alabama Children's and Women's Hospital in Mobile, where she was airlifted, as stated in the Pascagoula newspaper.
