3-year-old Drowns at Yacht Club

PASS CHRISTIAN -- Media reports this weekend said that three-year-old William Montjoy died Saturday afternoon, drowning at the Pass Christian Yacht Club.

William was the son of Paul and Lea Montjoy of Diamondhead.

The death occurred around 2:30 p.m., according to sunherald.com

Toddler Left in Car Dies in Biloxi

BILOXI -- Esther Tsang, 18 months old, was pronounced dead about 5:45 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 14, after spending all day locked inside a vehicle, according to news reports.

Apparently, the child's mother left the toddler inside the car after driving to work. The vehicle was located in the parking lot of a former medical complex.

Esther is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Brian Tsang of Biloxi.

Police are still investigating the death.

Sophia Dies After Fight with Cancer



OCEAN SPRINGS -- Sophia Mohler died Tuesday, Sept. 7, 2010, a year after she began a fight against brain stem cancer.


The 8-year-old was a third grader at St. Alphonsus Catholic School. Her parents are David and Theresa Mohler, owners of the Tato Nut Bakery on Government Street.







They closed their business last year after learning of their daughter's illness and sought chemotherapy and radiation treatments in Houston, Texas.



During her illness, Sophia received a tremendous and continuing outpouring of community support. A benefit walk across the Biloxi Bay Bridge and numerous other fundraisers helped raise money for her medical expenses.



She also received a wig from the Pink Hearts group.



Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home in Ocean Springs will handle funeral services and interment.



OBITUARY

OCEAN SPRINGS -- Sophia Marie Mohler of Ocean Springs died Tuesday, Sept. 7, 2010, at her home in Ocean Springs, where she had been a lifelong resident.


Sophia was a third-grader at St. Alphonsus Catholic School, a dancer at Donna's Visual and Performing Arts, and was a member of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church. She loved Disney, horseback riding and traveling with her family.


Sophia was preceded in death by her uncle Michael Paul Mohler.


Survivors include mother Theresa Tapper Mohler, father David Martin Mohler, sister Katelyn Monrone Mohler, maternal grandparents Frank and Brenda (Fairley) Tapper and Robert and Verona "Nonie" (Fountain) Mohler.


She is also survived by her aunt Jennifer (Jason) Howard; uncles Jerry (Laurie) Mohler, Mark (Debbie) Mohler, Richard "Brick" Mohler, Jeff "Bitty" (Kathy) Mohler and Greg Mohler; first cousins Erin Freeman, Haven and Bo Howard, Trey and Olivia Mohler, and Mark, Aaron and Brandon (Megumi) Mohler, and Chase, Blake and Julianna Mohler, and Shana and Jeremy Mohler, and Alexa and Brody Mohler.


Visitation will be Friday, Sept. 10, 2010, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home, Ocean Springs Chapel. On Saturday, Sept. 11, 2010, an 11 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church. Friends may visit from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery.


In lieu of flowers, the family prefers donations be made to the Ronald McDonald House at 1907 Holcombe Blvd., Houston, TX 77030-4123.
