2-Year-Old Dies During Early Morning Fire in Greene County

BILOXI , Miss. - WLOX has reported that a 2-year-old girl died around 2 this morning (Dec. 13) during a house fire on Old Avera Road in Greene County.

The father is being treated at USA Burn Center in Mobile, but the mother and two other children were escaped the fire, according to Greene County Emergency Management Director Trent Robertson, who provided the information to the television station.

The cause of the fire is unknown though emergency authories said it appeared to have been accidential.

Memorial Day celebrations and words of wisdom

Today marks the official date of the Memorial Day, or originally known as Decoration Day, though its officially observed on the last Monday in May as one of the Holiday..

Sounds by the Sea in Long Beach and Pascagoula and numerous other observances over the weekend paid homage to military members who gave their lives to fight for the United States of America.

Students, Families Join Together During Memorials and Reception for Caleb Sweeten and Brandon Rich



Caleb Sweeten and Brandon Rich lost their lives Sunday, May 5, 2013, during a boating accident on the Pascagoula River. A  displays programs provided to students at a dual memorial at Pascagoula High School Gymnasium on Wednesday, May 8.


PASCAGOULA -- Panther Nation students are still weeping for their two friends and classmates who died Sunday during a knee boarding accident on the Pascagoula River.

Brandon Rich and Caleb Sweeten were honored Wednesday during a dual memorial at the Pascagoula High School Gymnasium.

Student Cindy Garay said she is doing good, staying strong. "This week we have a track meet. We're running for Brandon. He made it to state with us and we are going to represent him well," she said.

Student-athlete Tisdale Simms, said the loss of Caleb Sweeten has been hard. "We worked out together; we were partners for the whole year. It's hard, it's real hard."

He said Pascagoula's football team has been coping with their grief by working hard for Caleb and visiting with his grandmother and doing things for her.

Grand Central Station Turns 100

NEW YORK -- Grand Central Station in New York City turned 100 years old on Friday, Feb. 1.




Grand Central Terminal (GCT)—colloquially called Grand Central Station, or shortened to simply Grand Central—is a commuter rail terminal station at 42nd Street and Park Avenue in Midtown Manhattan in New York City, United States. Built by and named for the New York Central Railroad in the heyday of American long-distance passenger rail travel, it is the largest train station in the world by number of platforms:[3] 44, with 67 tracks along them. They are on two levels, both below ground, with 41 tracks on the upper level and 26 on the lower, though the total number of tracks along platforms and in rail yards exceeds 100. The terminal covers an area of 48 acres (19 ha).
