Teenager killed by train

PASCAGOULA -- A teenager died Sunday, Aug. 16, after being hit by a train at the intersection of U.S. 90 and Industrial Road.

Media reports have said the 19-year-old apparently did not see a westbound train that was blocked from his sight by stationary train already at the intersection, which connects with Mississippi 63 near the city limits of Moss Point.

Compassionate Friends of Leakesville, 7 p.m. first Tuesday each month at Faith Presbyterian Church, 1300 Mississippi St., Leakesville, MS 39451. Anyone who has lost a child, grandchild or sibling from the surrounding counties is welcome to come to the meetings. We are a bereaved parents self-help support group. GriefShare, a 13-week recovery support group for those who have experienced the death of a loved one, meets at 6 p.m. each Thursday in the fellowship hall of First United Methodist Church in Pascagoula. The church is located at 2710 Pascagoula St. Contact 762-5222.
