Dive Teams Retrieve Body of 2-year-old Lane Graves

FLORIDA -- Law enforcement authorities have located and recovered the body of the toddler grabbed and pulled into a man-made lake by an alligator at a Disney resort in Orlando on Tuesday.


Lane Graves, 2 years old, was with his parents while playing on a beach of the Seven Seas Lagoon at
Disney’s luxe Grand Floridian Resort and Spa. The family is from Elkhorn, Neb., according to Orange County Sheriff Jerry Demings.

DonTarious Bowens, 15, Juwine Hughes, 13, drown same day

HATTIESBURG -- Teenager DonTarious Bowens passed away Sunday afternoon, May 29, after witnesses said he was last seen jumping into the Leaf River off the Evelyn Gandy Parkway Bridge.


The 15-year-old had jumped off the Evelyn Gandy Parkway Bridge for a swim.


Media reports said Forrest County dive teams and first responders found the body of the 15-year-old about 10 p.m. Sunday night after he went missing in the river about 5:30 p.m. Glenn Moore, director of the Forrest County Emergency Management Agency


Moore said witnesses saw Bowens go under water but didn't see him resurface, according to television  and website reports from WDAM and WLOX television stations.


Rescue and emergency teams from Petal Fire Department, Hattiesburg Fire Department,  and Forrest County Sheriff's Department helped with the search for Bowens, according to the media reports.


Bowens was the second teenager to drown within 24 hours on Sunday.


Juwine Hughes, 13, according to reporter Ryan Moore of WDAM, was found unresponsive in the pool at the C.E. Roy Community Center about the same time as Bowens was reported missing.


Hughes died Monday morning at University Medical Center in Jackson, the reporter said.
