GAUTIER -- Teenager Walter Patterson was one of two men killed Saturday night, Oct. 23, while trying to move a disabled vehicle across Interstate 10, according to news reports in the Sun Herald and Mississippi Press.
Patterson, 19, and 52-year-old Gregory Gibson were pushing a Chevy Cavalier across the westbound lanes from the median to the emergency lane when they were struck by a Toyota Avalon driven by Ryan Nguyen, 35, of Columbus, Ga., according to information from highway patrol officer Cpl. Johnny Poulos. The accident happened about 11 p.m. and both men died at the scene.
Another teenager, 19-year-old Charles Willis, driver of the Cavalier, was taken to Singing River Hospital with moderate injuries.
